Rosamund of Scotland

Hello and welcome to nicspicnmix, on the blog today I am introducing Rosamund of Scotland to you all.

Rosamund of Scotland is a new Scottish design brand for women using sustainability sourced textiles. Rosamund's designs are quirky, original, beautifully crafted and luxurious. Rosamund of Scotland is a family run fashion brand. In fact it is a mother and daughter team behind the brand- Girl power indeed! The whole process is carried out in their workshop. From sketching to creating the finished piece. The materials used are of top quality.

This brand is so unique and very different to any I have worked with before and I love how creative the pieces are. They certainly do stand out. It is a brand where you can tell who made it straight away- which is fantastic. I really enjoy fun and unusual designs. It fits in really well with my motto of experimenting and pushing boundaries with fashion. There really is not another brand like Rosamund of Scotland which is exciting. I am waiting eagerly to see what they design next.

I am so fortunate to have a bespoke dress designed for myself from the Love letter collection. With the dress being made to measure it makes it more special as it's designed to fit you only. The dress compliments my shape very well. It has an elegant style to it. The cream material compliments my skin tone which surprised me as this is not a colour I usually wear. The dress is so comfortable to wear and it makes me feel like a 1950's pin up girl.

Dress costs £130.00

Dress also comes with matching clutch. Price £48.00

The company have been getting a lot of attention from the media which is great and very exciting for a local company. The team behind the brand are so passionate and hard working that I am so pleased that they are getting the recognition that they truly deserve . No one realises how much time and effort that goes into creating and maintaining a business until you start one yourself. I enjoy reading about what they are up to next and what fashion show they are taking part in – maybe one day I could walk in their designs!

I honestly can't recommend this brand enough- I could rave about them all day and still have only touched the surface. Please check them out . They are so different and I can guarantee you'll fall in love with them and their designs. The company are one to look out for.

Thank you to Rosamund of Scotland for giving me this opportunity. I am forever grateful and I hope to work with you again.

London Fashion Week: N&S Gaia by Sidharth

Hello and welcome to my blog.

I can’t believe how long ago London Fashion Week was! I was so excited and very lucky to be given the opportunity to attend the fabulous event as a guest blogger for Sidharth.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Sidharth(Designer behind N&S GAIA)

This designer has some unique and very exciting designs and I feel this is what we have been missing over the years in the fashion industry.

N&S Gaia stands for Nature & Sustainability with revered guidance of Mother Nature, inceptor and creator-GAIA, the primal Greek Goddess. The brand started its journey in 2013 from North East India. They are a contemporary Womenswear label that are based in New Delhi. N&S Gaia have given the technique called Dakmanda which is a hand weaving embroidery technique of Garo Tribe in the North East of India a re-birth.

The brand has used upcycling and sustainable fabrics in their designs. They take the idea that Less is more and try to keep an environmental factor in their designs.

When I attended the fashion show I was greeted with so many beautiful colours on the catwalk. Sidharth’s design are very well thought out and had an element of futuristic about them. The amount of detail on some of the clothing was seriously very well put together. The clothing was not over the top yet it still had eye catching appeal. The makeup complimented the clothing and the hair was kept up in high buns.

I was also very fortunate enough to be able to go backstage and see the clothing up close. It was such an amazing experience to see how much work goes into a catwalk show and also to be given the opportunity to meet with Sidharth, the designer of the brand.

I would like to wish Sidharth and N&S Gaia all the best for the future and I hope to be able to attend another show of theirs in the future. I really did feel that their designs were very fresh and stood out from anything I have seen to date. I definitely would wear something from their collection.  Thank you to Yannis for inviting me and for taking great care of me whilst at the show. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you and I hope to see you all soon.

Miss Vanilla

On the blog today I will be talking about my collaboration with Miss Vanilla. Miss Vanilla’s motto is that they believe girls should feel super-glam every day. They feel that they can achieve this through their hot trends at competitive prices throughout the UK and across the World. They specialise in celebrity inspired fashion trends.

The Miss Vanilla Website is very easy to navigate around and really simple layout which I feel is a good thing as you are left looking at the clothing rather than what else is happening. Everything is clearly marked out and accessible. I like how you can share the item(s) really easily with your friends across the social media platforms that you use. The images of the clothing are a good size and it allows you to really see what you are looking at -makes it easier to choose what size you will be and gives a good idea of what it actually looks like without having to enlarge the image or zoom in and out.

This company really do focus in on celebrity style, which is great for all us fashionistas who would like to dress like our idols, but may not be able to afford the price tag that goes with it. The items really are complete matches to the celebrities clothing. They have everything from the stars of TOWIE to Kylie Jenner. If you have a special occasion, there are plenty of dresses to choose from or playsuits. With Miss Vanilla you truly will be glamorous every day. If you are staying in at home, they have fantastic 2 piece sets or logo jumpers which are so cool.

The customer service is really good with Miss Vanilla. The company have great communication and you are kept up to date with how your order is coming along. This company even offer FREE UK delivery. They also have various options for making a payment which is great as there will be a preferred option for everyone.

I was very lucky enough to have been sent the Monochrome Cut Out Bodycon Dress which is inspired by the one and only fashion style Icon- Kylie Jenner. Monochrome Cut out Dress

I was over the moon to have been sent this beautiful piece as it is something that I wouldn’t have chosen myself and it shows that you really can dress to impress with this company for really good value for money.  The dress is one of those that you really can’t wait to wear and show off. The dress is really well made and fits perfectly. It shows of my figure really well and I felt very comfortable wearing it. It is a great length and flirty at the same time. The white sections of the dress are not see through at all which is great. I felt very sophisticated in this dress yet I also feel that it is a dress that can be worn to events or nights out.

Please see images below of how the dress looked on me.

The Bangle Bear (Bela Bracelets)

On the blog today will be featuring the very simple yet great idea, The Bangle Bear. The Bangle Bear’s creators are two sisters who are big fans of all things classy yet affordable.

Once in our lives we will all have made the mistake of putting a hair bobble on our wrist just in case we needed to put our hair up later on in the day. You may have also forgotten about having one bobble on your wrist and added more throughout the day making a collection on your arm. Or getting a photograph taken and later finding out that you had a bobble on your wrist the entire time and it doesn’t quite go with your outfit you had on at that time. Well fear not as The Bangle Bear has this covered. The Bangle Bear is an affordable solution to the above problems. They can be worn almost anywhere, at work or on a night out. They magically transform your hair bobble into a piece of jewellery which compliments your outfit.

I was very intrigued when I saw this company as I have never heard nor seen of anything like this over in the UK. I am always very interested to try new and exciting things and felt that this brand was right up my street. I got in contact with Bela Bracelets and expressed my interest in working with the company to promote them over in the UK. And with great delight they said yes! They very kindly sent me over a selection of bangle bear bracelets that will be featuring on various outfits over the next coming months.

IMG-20160529-WA0012

Cost £9.72 +Shipping (other offers available)

They come in various styles and colours which means that there will be a bangle bear bracelet to complement each and every outfit. There is gold, silver and rose gold options to choose from. The exciting thing is that you can mix and match your hair bobble with the bracelets as they come off. This is a great idea as you may have a little black dress on which means you could have a black hair bobble etc. Even without the hair bobble the bracelets look great and add simple detail to your outfit.

They are very easy to use once you get the hang of how the bobble goes on. The bracelets themselves are a u shape which means that they will fit everyone.

I have worn my Bangle Bear since the day they sent me them. I can’t leave the house without using it. Not only does it look better it also stops your arm from having the horrible marks left from the hair bobble or from feeling like the circulation is being cut off from the bobble being too tight.

Hybrid

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I am going to be talking about the fashion brand Hybrid.

Hybrid was first established in 2010 and since then has become a well renowned global fashion brand. Hybrid is known for its effortless, sophisticated and timeless designs. This fashion brand is driven by innovation and commitment to new and exciting ideas, and at the same time promotes affordable and luxurious collections that are inspired by the contemporary market. Hybrid uses fabrics that flatter the natural curves of the body. Hybrid currently sells to over three hundred independent boutiques as well as well-known department stores. If online shopping is your preference, they can be found on ASOS.

This company really do have a good selection of dresses, from bodycon dresses to skater dresses there really is a good option for every occasion. If you prefer simple colours or more out there adventurous designs, then this brand is for you.

As a petite female I find it very difficult getting clothing to fit me perfectly. I usually have to get them altered or put up with things not being quite right. It isn’t a great look and this is the area I am looking to try and tackle- petite clothing. I aim to try and find companies who actually DO cater for the smaller female.

Keeping this in mind when I looked at Hybrid’s dresses they do come with great measurement guides which is always a necessity when you have a small frame etc. Some designs look great but when they are put on myself it just drowns me. I am always scared to try new designs just for those reasons of it looking way too big for me or not fitting right.

However, I found great delight with Hybrid. The customer service is amazing and they go out of their way to try and help you. I found that their communication and updates with delivery were a great asset. I was able to achieve a new goal and try a new shape of dress on myself. I was a bit anxious. When the dress arrived it was very well presented. The quality of material used to make the dress was of a high standard as well. You can tell they are very well made. The dress I chose was the Hybrid Crissy Black Floral Printed Soft Crepe Dress, was £105.00 now £35.00. The detail and design are perfect. I was over the moon with this dress and felt that it was versatile and could be worn to many events and occasions that I have coming up. Every girl loves a little black dress and this one was my new favourite.

To show this fantastic dress off I decided to take it to the harbour over at Tayport, Fife. Here are the results, I think you’ll agree that this dress is a winner.

NicoleAbbottBlog_39

Photography: Douglas Kerr, Hair and make up : Rachel Wilson, Dress: Hybrid

My worries about it being different to anything I have worn before were non-existent due to it being a very good fit. It was almost as if it were a glove that’s how well it felt on. I felt that the fabric did bring out my curves and it still looked very sophisticated. The dress was not too long on myself and I was able to move freely in it, the reason I mentioned this is, this dress is a pencil fit which usually restricts movement.

I cannot recommend Hybrid highly enough and feel that you all should check them out for yourselves. The moment you set eyes on the beautiful outfits you instantly fall in love.

Chi-Chi London

Hello and welcome to today’s blog post which is featuring the beautiful and very elegant dresses from the one and only Chi-Chi London.

I have been admiring Chi-Chi London dresses for a while and I plucked up the courage to apply to their casting call thanks to The Blogger Programme.  I was over the moon when they agreed to work with me.

If you haven’t heard of Chi-Chi London, then here is a little bit about the company. This young and fast fashion brand really does cater for everyone. They bring the looks from the catwalk straight to the high street so people like you and I can really enjoy being up-to-date with the latest styles. The company really do pride themselves with having unique, vibrant and expressive styles which sets them aside from other UK retailers. What really drew me to this company was the fact that their dresses are limited edition pieces which are designed and made in house, which means that when you purchase and wear a Chi-Chi London dress it is exclusive to you! That really makes you feel special. Chi-Chi London have a wide range of stunning dresses to cater for every occasion. The dresses range from cocktail, prom, evening and maxi dresses. Another reason why I adore Chi-Chi London is the fact that they really do cater for everyone- in fact they cater for every shape. From petite to curvy they have every avenue covered. Which is perfect if you find it really difficult to source outfits due to varying reasons.

It is every girl’s dream to dress up, and when I was lucky enough to choose which dress I would like to review the decision really was difficult. I wanted to choose something that is very different from what I usually go for. And I knew that there was going to be that perfect dress from Chi-Chi London due to the selection of styles, colours and ranges being offered to me. The website is really easy to move around and very eye-catching. The images of the dresses really do help you to see what the dresses look like and the size charts are great to follow. The customer service from Chi-Chi London is second to none, they keep you up-to-date with everything and couldn’t be more helpful.

When my chosen dress arrived it was as described from the website. In fact, it looked even more perfect in the flesh. The dress I chose was the Chi-Chi London Justice dress. I found that the print on the dress wasn’t too over the top and as I said earlier I wanted something completely different to my usual choices. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and experiment more, and this is what I had achieved. I don’t wear many pastel colours and this dress was a light pink colour. It has a lovely shape to it without being too fitted or too floaty. The dress has a beautiful drop at the back which looks really good without showing too much skin. It is a very elegant piece that isn’t too short in length or is too long. It would look great at a wedding or even for a date.

To show the dress in its true light, I decided to take it to a photoshoot and see how good it would be to photograph. And the dress didn’t disappoint at all! In fact, you might even agree that it stole the show and made the pictures. The dress was very comfortable to wear, and fitted me beautifully. I am very petite and often find that dresses look too big on my small frame or the straps fall down. It is with great delight that this dress did neither of these things which made me fall in love with it even more.

For the photoshoot we decided that this dress deserved a Royal background and what better backdrop than a castle itself – The very picturesque Broughty Ferry Castle.

The Breath-taking bralette

Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog. Today I am going to be introducing you all to my personally handmade bralette. The bralette was designed and made by Rebecca Jayne, from the Midlands, who is also a very good blogger might I add.

Rebecca Jayne offers the made to measure bralette which is great as you know that it will definitely be a good fit. The bralette comes in lace and in two colours, pastel mint green or black. I chose the black option. The bralettes are very eye-catching and can be worn a number of ways depending how daring you are! You can quite simply just wear them as a bra but bearing in mind that there is no under wiring  so maybe best to do this if you are small busted. You can wear them under shirts and leave the top button open to create a flirty and sexy yet sophisticated look with just a little of the bralette to peer through. The possibilities really are endless.

My bralette was beautifully presented

The lace design that Rebecca uses is so beautiful and very elegant. The bralette that Rebecca designs are a great essential in your wardrobe especially as they are made to measure. Rebecca takes great care in designing her bralettes and you can see how much time and effort she really does put into each piece that she makes. With her having a great love of fashion it reflects in her work.

I chose to take my bralette on holiday with me to Gran Canaria. I felt that the design and the landscape would complement one another.  The sunshine in Gran Canaria is also very flattering! I have attached a few images of the bralette so you can see for yourselves how beautiful they truly are.

HOUSE OF WONDERLAND AKA H.O.W

House of Wonderland was started by Tess in 2012. Tess’s mission was to start up a quirky jewellery brand in the heart of Edinburgh. The company now includes accessories and gifts.  In 2015 H.O.W relocated to Berwick- Upon- Tweed. Tess uses local designers and sources materials from local / independent shops.

House of Wonderland now offers the first jewellery club in the UK. It is really easy to join the club and there are a few options to choose from. If you are wanting to try the jewellery club but don’t want them monthly you can order a one of box which costs £19. If you would like to try a trial period there is a three month subscription which costs £50 and finally if you would like to receive a jewellery box every month it costs £17 per month. Every month there is a different theme and a guest designer.

I was lucky enough to have been sent a jewellery box and the month’s theme was 50’s Diner. On first inspection of the jewellery box it was filled to the brim with goodies. You certainly do get your money’s worth and more. The planning that goes into the theme for each month, the designing, the creating and sourcing a designer to feature really shows how much pride and joy that Tess puts into her business. You do get great customer service and you truly are valued as a customer. Her communication is very good and she keeps you updated with how things are going and when your box is being delivered.

As I mentioned earlier the jewellery box was filled to the brim with so many wonderful items. I hear you all asking “what was inside the box?”  In the jewellery box included:

  • Metal Vinyl Record Charm Necklace (RRP £10)
  • Vintage inspired diner large magnet (RRP £6)
  • It’s only Rock n Roll A6 art print (RRP £6)
  • Metal pink fabulous badge (RRP £5)
  • Large red hair bow from Miss Cherry Makewell (RRP £3.49)
  • Make your own burger garland kit (RRP £8)
  • Mini burger candy (RRP £1)
  • Pizza wish bracelet (RRP £4)
  • 50’s diner sticker pack (RRP £5)
  • Burger cross stich pattern from Geeky Stitching Company
  • HOW Newsletter with Miss Cherry Makewellinterview
  • A clue to next month’s theme

I personally feel that this box is a great idea and you can see how unique it is from any other monthly subscription out there. It gives you the chance to own quirky jewellery that you won’t get from the everyday shops. It is also a great opportunity for up and coming designers to showcase their designs and to gain new customers.

I have had so much fun wearing the jewellery and have had so many compliments regarding the pieces. The jewellery really does work well for day time and evening outfits. Go on and treat yourselves.

I am so excited to seewhat the other themes for the months are and I hope that you will all go check out HOUSE OF WONDERLAND and even subscribe to the jewellery club. It really is a great investment.

Fabulous badge featured top right and bottom left. Pizza bracelet bottom right.

I would like to thank Tess at HOUSE OF WONDERLAND for sending me my jewellery box it really was a fantastic opportunity and I hope to work with her again in the future.

Thank you all for reading. As always if you have any questions or recommendations please do get in contact with me. For collaborations please email me.
