Rosamund of Scotland

Hello and welcome to nicspicnmix, on the blog today I am introducing Rosamund of Scotland to you all.

Rosamund of Scotland is a new Scottish design brand for women using sustainability sourced textiles. Rosamund's designs are quirky, original, beautifully crafted and luxurious. Rosamund of Scotland is a family run fashion brand. In fact it is a mother and daughter team behind the brand- Girl power indeed! The whole process is carried out in their workshop. From sketching to creating the finished piece. The materials used are of top quality.

This brand is so unique and very different to any I have worked with before and I love how creative the pieces are. They certainly do stand out. It is a brand where you can tell who made it straight away- which is fantastic. I really enjoy fun and unusual designs. It fits in really well with my motto of experimenting and pushing boundaries with fashion. There really is not another brand like Rosamund of Scotland which is exciting. I am waiting eagerly to see what they design next.

I am so fortunate to have a bespoke dress designed for myself from the Love letter collection. With the dress being made to measure it makes it more special as it's designed to fit you only. The dress compliments my shape very well. It has an elegant style to it. The cream material compliments my skin tone which surprised me as this is not a colour I usually wear. The dress is so comfortable to wear and it makes me feel like a 1950's pin up girl.

Dress costs £130.00

Dress also comes with matching clutch. Price £48.00

The company have been getting a lot of attention from the media which is great and very exciting for a local company. The team behind the brand are so passionate and hard working that I am so pleased that they are getting the recognition that they truly deserve . No one realises how much time and effort that goes into creating and maintaining a business until you start one yourself. I enjoy reading about what they are up to next and what fashion show they are taking part in – maybe one day I could walk in their designs!

I honestly can't recommend this brand enough- I could rave about them all day and still have only touched the surface. Please check them out . They are so different and I can guarantee you'll fall in love with them and their designs. The company are one to look out for.

Thank you to Rosamund of Scotland for giving me this opportunity. I am forever grateful and I hope to work with you again.

Little Black Dress Event

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I will be sharing my experience of being invited to one of Scotlands most exclusive fashion events.

When the founder of the Scottish Style Awards contacted me personally to attend this event I was over the moon. My face had the biggest smile on it and I couldn’t stop smiling for days.

The Little Black Dress  event was also adding even more sophistication with the presence of MoËt and Chandon and Cambord. All the pieces that were shown at the event were from high street retailers and some boutiques. It’s always so enjoyable to see so many interpretations of how the little Black Dress can be portrayed and especially very fitting for the party season upon us. The event had so many beautiful pieces that I can guarantee there would be an outfit for everyone and plenty inspiration for those of us requiring some.

The Little Black Dress Event was hosted at the very Chique Corinthian Club in Glasgow. This venue really did set the scene for a fantastic evening. The staff were very attentive and so professional the whole evening . There were no problems whatsoever. They were making sure that all the guests had received the glass of  Moët champagne on arrival and kept us topped up with all the tasty items of food. The room was very well decorated and the lighting was spot on for the fashion show. The layout of both tables and rows of seating was great and made sure that everyone was able to see the outfits without any difficulty. Plenty of room and time  to move around and do some socialising which with a room full of women is always a plus!

Susie Cormack Bruce did a great job of being our hostess for the evening and kept us all wanting to see more. She spoke very well and you were able to hear what she was saying perfectly. I felt that she had great control of timings and of the evening as a whole.  I would like to express my warm praises to her.

The champagne from Moët was just devine and I must say that I really did enjoy it. Thank you Moët for being involved with the event and keeping us ladies watered. Not only did we receive champagne but we were also the first event in Scotland to be given the exclusive reveal of the Flamingo French Martini which was very enjoyable. The glass is very unique and stands out . The top is almost oval in shape with the handle then the circular certainly went down a treat. Again, thank you Chambord for this exclusive experience.

The fashion  and the show was amazing. I got there early to gain a front row seat so I could see the dresses and outfits up close. We were seeing pieces from John Lewis, Ted Baker, French connection, phase eight, whistles, coast, Reiss, Lipsy, Wish, Next, Zara and even a vintage section with dresses from those involved in the event. The catwalk show flowed very well from each section and brand. I liked having the projection overhead so you could relate it back to where the dresses were from. I honestly had so many favourites and really liked how the pieces were styled for the Autumn Winter 2016. I have attached a few images from the show so you get a feel for what was available. What I learned from this fashion show is that the Little Black Dress doesn’t necessarily have to be black.

All in all I had a brilliant evening and felt so privileged to have been invited to such a stylish and well organised event. I do hope to attend again.

I would like to thank Mary for inviting me and I hope we can work together again in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and I hope you too enjoyed reading it. Any questions or comments please do feel free to get in contact.

Chi-Chi London

Hello and welcome to today’s blog post which is featuring the beautiful and very elegant dresses from the one and only Chi-Chi London.

I have been admiring Chi-Chi London dresses for a while and I plucked up the courage to apply to their casting call thanks to The Blogger Programme.  I was over the moon when they agreed to work with me.

If you haven’t heard of Chi-Chi London, then here is a little bit about the company. This young and fast fashion brand really does cater for everyone. They bring the looks from the catwalk straight to the high street so people like you and I can really enjoy being up-to-date with the latest styles. The company really do pride themselves with having unique, vibrant and expressive styles which sets them aside from other UK retailers. What really drew me to this company was the fact that their dresses are limited edition pieces which are designed and made in house, which means that when you purchase and wear a Chi-Chi London dress it is exclusive to you! That really makes you feel special. Chi-Chi London have a wide range of stunning dresses to cater for every occasion. The dresses range from cocktail, prom, evening and maxi dresses. Another reason why I adore Chi-Chi London is the fact that they really do cater for everyone- in fact they cater for every shape. From petite to curvy they have every avenue covered. Which is perfect if you find it really difficult to source outfits due to varying reasons.

It is every girl’s dream to dress up, and when I was lucky enough to choose which dress I would like to review the decision really was difficult. I wanted to choose something that is very different from what I usually go for. And I knew that there was going to be that perfect dress from Chi-Chi London due to the selection of styles, colours and ranges being offered to me. The website is really easy to move around and very eye-catching. The images of the dresses really do help you to see what the dresses look like and the size charts are great to follow. The customer service from Chi-Chi London is second to none, they keep you up-to-date with everything and couldn’t be more helpful.

When my chosen dress arrived it was as described from the website. In fact, it looked even more perfect in the flesh. The dress I chose was the Chi-Chi London Justice dress. I found that the print on the dress wasn’t too over the top and as I said earlier I wanted something completely different to my usual choices. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and experiment more, and this is what I had achieved. I don’t wear many pastel colours and this dress was a light pink colour. It has a lovely shape to it without being too fitted or too floaty. The dress has a beautiful drop at the back which looks really good without showing too much skin. It is a very elegant piece that isn’t too short in length or is too long. It would look great at a wedding or even for a date.

To show the dress in its true light, I decided to take it to a photoshoot and see how good it would be to photograph. And the dress didn’t disappoint at all! In fact, you might even agree that it stole the show and made the pictures. The dress was very comfortable to wear, and fitted me beautifully. I am very petite and often find that dresses look too big on my small frame or the straps fall down. It is with great delight that this dress did neither of these things which made me fall in love with it even more.

For the photoshoot we decided that this dress deserved a Royal background and what better backdrop than a castle itself – The very picturesque Broughty Ferry Castle.

We then decided that this dress needed to grace it’s own catwalk and headed straight for the TayBridge.

I would like to thank everyone at Chi-Chi London for giving me this opportunity to review a dress that truly is eye-catching and very well made.  A big thank you goes to Douglas Kerr photography for taking the images and to Rachel Wilson for her fantastic make up skills. Everything looked perfect.
