Silver, sand and sea

Hello and welcome to nicspicknmix, on the blog I am discussing my tips on how I wear my jewellery. I am petite and I normally like my jewellery to be the same. I wear jewellery to compliment my frame. I feel that this works best for me. Although, I know some people prefer the exact opposite and wear pieces that stand out, but then again this may work better for them.

That being said, what I select for the daytime compared to that at night time tends to differ quite dramatically. During the day I choose to wear jewellery that keeps my style simple and clean. I like to wear only one or two pieces which in my eyes, isn’t going over the top, unless I’m wearing a full set of course. If I have a full set at hand to match my outfit then I’m quite happy to wear a bit more than normal, it doesn’t hurt to stand out a bit after all, especially if everything co-ordinates. My daytime minimalist preferences stem from my tendency to wear jeans and a jumper. At night however, things are completely different. When I go out I like to be as dramatic as possible in line with the event that I’m off to. This is reflected in the jewellery I wear as well. For me, I think a lot of the style you wear comes down to the individual and their preference. The World would be a boring place if we lacked individuality and I think it should be embraced at every opportunity. Heidi & Co must have thought about this. They have three different brands, Smeidi, Libby May and Evy B with the products only produced on a limited run. This gives me the confidence that I won’t be on a night out and see everyone wearing the same as me.

As a blogger I am always experimenting and trying to up my style game. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn’t. Fashion for me is sometimes a bit of a learning curve, but it’s necessary to experiment especially when trying to find out what works well for yourself with the ever changing styles and trends. The one down side on this ever changing nature is of course the cost. It’s important to keep up with the times but there is no point in getting yourself into debt. I really am appreciative of being lucky enough to be a brand ambassador for Heidi & Co helping me keep creative and stylish.  Working in this team has been such an inspiring experience. Not only have I had the chance to meet other fantastic bloggers I have also been able to learn more about myself as a blogger.

Whilst browsing the latest jewellery from Heidi & Co I was drawn to the circle bracelet. I really liked the simple design and how delicate it appeared to be. I felt that this piece would be adaptable for using at many occasions from a day out exploring to a lovely romantic meal. I like exploring a lot and try to put a lot of thought into my outfit before the day. I visited Incholm Island near Edinburgh at the weekend and wore my new circle bracelet to compliment my daytime look, check it out below!

Double circle bracelet £18.99

The island is beautiful and I almost forgot I was only a short distance from Edinburgh. For such a small island there is surprisingly a lot to see. I explored the historic Abbey and remnants from the World War which was most interesting. If you are like myself and love learning about history I highly recommend this day trip. As long as you like travelling by boat that is, as this is the only way on to the island. You are given the freedom to explore as much or as little of this magnificent island as you like. The views are phenomenal and it made me think about what we have today thanks to the bravery of the soldiers.

Thank you for reading and please do check out Heidi & Co via the links below.

liebster Award 2

Hello and welcome to nicspicknmix.
I am delighted to share with you all my second blog award. I have been nominated with the Liebster award (2). It's over whelming to have been nominated again. As the saying goes 'hard work pays off'. And this is a saying that sticks with me.

I was nominated by Mika Yoshimura from the blog A shade of mikachuu. Where she specialises in fashion blogging. I really enjoyed reading her posts and feel she grasps what we want to see from a blogger. I would like to thank her for taking the time to read my blog and for nominating my blog , it's such a boost when you see that your work is being enjoyed. I hope her blog grows in strength too.

I am required to give two pieces of advice to new bloggers. So I will give my opinion on what I felt would have helped myself looking back.

1) Find the time to blog regularly. This is something that I struggle with and an area I'm working on still. This is very important as you want to be as active as you can be to gain exposure. Once you get your theme and topics you'll be raring to go. You need to spend a lot of time researching what's important to include and having content that's relatable your followers. Making time will become much easier once you establish a routine around your other day to day priorities.
2) pick one social media platform which you are comfortable using and stick with it. Link it to your blog so your followers can read your posts . By using only one social media platform you gain knowledge of what works best for you. The best times to post on that platform so you gain more exposure too. The more active you are on that social platform the more interaction you will gain . Your audience will know where to find you online.

All in all, blogging is great, can be fun and really rewarding. Stick at it!

If you would like anymore advice please do get in touch . I am more than happy to help.

Fashion Snip

Hello and welcome to my blog. On the blog today I am featuring the brand Fashion Snip.

I am so excited to introduce you to this brand. They stock so many cool pieces and I am sure you’ll agree when you check them out for yourselves.

When I was given the opportunity to collaborate with Fashion Snip I was delighted. I enjoy working with brands especially ones that are not as well known yet. It is always so exciting for my followers to see new brands. It is also great to be able to show my followers that there are more options out there which opens new clothing styles to them.

So, who is Fashion Snip?

Fashion Snip is a mixed brands outlet who are based in London. They aim to bring the latest fashion trends at the best prices. They cover a huge range of clothing options from ripped jeans to party dresses. They like to make fashion easy and affordable. They believe that you shouldn’t have to search lots of stores to find your perfect fashion fix. In fact, they believe you’ll find everything you need on their website at a “snip” of the price! What’s not to like?

Fashion Snips website is so easy to navigate around, well laid out and everything is clearly labelled. Bright and colourful in design yet not too over powering. I like how you can zoom in and see the items up close. This gives a good idea as to what the piece will look like. All relevant information is on hand which I like. There is no need to click on numerous links to try and find what your needing as it’s all there in front of you.

I was super lucky to be sent a selection of clothing- white high waisted plain skinny jeans (£8.00), Black embellished midi body con dress (£5.00) and a light blue denim off shoulder ¾ sleeve top (£5.00). All the pieces arrived as described on the website and all fitted me well. I liked the items that were sent to me and took them on various holidays.

I wore the embellished dress whilst on holiday in Majorca, I decided to wear it out in the evening. The dress made me feel like a million dollars! The dress was one that hugged to you and showed off your curves. I liked how the detailing was around the neck which added extra flam without the need for a necklace. It was comfortable to wear and to move in. You just had to remember to be extra careful when you sat down due to the length of the dress. I received a lot of compliments about the dress and many couldn’t believe how affordable it was to buy. I would stress that it is good value for money. This dress would work well with your favourite nude or black heels or ballet plumps. I wore black sandals as I was on holiday. Ill definitely be wearing this eye catcher again.

20160824_204944

I took the ¾ sleeve top to London Fashion Week with me as I knew this top was a fashion steal. It was so comfortable to wear, didn’t dig in or slip off my shoulders. I always have problems when wearing items off the shoulder just due to the fact I am petite and have small shoulders. But this top behaved really well. I decided to go for a double denim look and teamed up with a pair of light blue molly jeggings from River Island, my pink Balmain sunglasses, sketchers and my Jackie and Celine handbag. I wanted to go causal yet still have style. I couldn’t believe how good quality this top was for the cost! This top could we worn day or night.

Lastly, I wore my white jeans out for a meal in Dundee. White jeans are not something that I wear a lot. Mainly due to the reason that I’m scared to make a mess from make up or food (yes I am quite clumsy and often set myself up to fail). But I overcame my fear that night and I am now a huge fashion fan of the white jeans. They look so much more sophisticated and go with anything. I decided to wear a white Guess t-shirt, the white jeans from Fashion Snip, a Tommy Hilfiger denim jacket and my denim look Guess trainers. This has to be my favourite outfit to date. Everything just fitted together but it was the jeans that made the outfit pop. The jeans were very comfortable and stretchy. These are now my go to jeans for nights out.

Fashion Snip really do have a good selection of clothing for little cost. The quality and finish of the pieces are just as good as some of the high-street retailers if not better. In today’s current economic difficulties, we really do need to watch our money but with companies like Fashion Snip our sense of style doesn’t have to suffer. I am so glad that I know about this company and I hope you enjoy shopping with them as much as I do. They give great customer service and you can tell that they care ab out their customers which is important.

Please do check them out for yourselves and let me know what you choose to buy. I’d love to see your outfits.

Thank you to Sarah from Fashion Snip for giving me the opportunity of working with you and the brand. It has opened my eyes to now there is more out there than just having to stick with what you know. I love learning about new companies.

Thank you for reading and for taking the time to keep up to date with my work. If you have any questions or would like to work together, please do get in contact with me.

Liz Earle

Hello and welcome to the blog. Today I am to be discussing one Skin Care brand that is a national treasure. This brand is none other than that of Liz Earle.

IMG_0287

My Liz Earle must haves

Liz Earle is a British beauty brand which was founded by friends Liz and Kim in 1995. Liz Earle originated from The Isle of Wight. Liz Earle is a daily beauty routine that uses natural and the best ingredients that nature must offer. Liz Earle pushes the importance of living well to help your skin to be at its best. They do stress that beauty is from deep within but from research with lots of women has revealed that having healthy and happy skin boosts our confidence and self-esteem.

It is important to add that this beauty brand is not expensive and is a great way to pamper yourself and give your skin the nutrients that it requires without breaking the bank. Not only does this brand do skin care products but the range has expanded and now includes body care, hair care and make up – so there will be something within the range that you will absolutely adore. As I have mentioned previously about the brand using only the best ingredients but these ingredients are active which is why the products work straight away. This brand caters for all skin types and ages which is great. They also have products that are just for men- no need for the men in your life to steal your products! Everyone of their products are fuss free which is beneficial since many of us live busy and sometimes complicated lives so at least our skin care regime doesn’t add to that.

Liz Earle has eight key factors which are very important to them: ingredients, responsible sourcing, our environment, animal testing- Liz Earle doesn’t test their products on animals at all. They are certified under the Humane Cosmetic Standard by Cruelty Free International. I strongly agree with their beliefs as in this day and age we surely have better ways to test our products rather than putting animals through unnecessary pain and suffering.  They also take this a step further and do not use any animal ingredients in their products. They do however, use animal friendly ingredients such as beeswax and manuka honey. One other important aspect to mention is that all their products are suitable for vegetarians. They use plant oils, extracts and preservatives -some formulas are completely free from preservatives all together whereas others have very little. Lastly, the packaging is very important, Liz Earle uses packaging that doesn’t damage our environment. Another great aspect of this company not only do they produce natural ingredients but they want to nourish our planet too.

As I have mentioned, Liz Earle likes to have a fuss-free skin care range and uses naturally active botanicals to leave your skin looking and feeling healthy. I am going to be taking you through a few of my skin care must have.

I was introduced to this brand back in July 2016. Previously to this I had never heard of this brand before and I am quite picky when it comes to my skin due to having sensitive skin and eczema. I was getting pretty fed up with the skin care regime that I had so was keen to try something new. Liz Earle offer complimentary treatments in stores that sell the brand. I feel that this is great service to offer as some people like myself are happier to try before they buy. I opted to have a facial. The Liz Earle employee made me to feel very relaxed and took a genuine interest in both myself and my skin. They went through the process with me and explained what would happen and what product to use when and what ones were suitable for my skin etc. I was given the full works of cleanse, tone and moisturiser.  The products were very light and did not cause any irritation in fact I felt a difference straight away with my skin. I could see a difference which was unbelievable. My skin was very smooth and felt so clean.

The product that caught my attention due to it be very different to anything I have used before was the cleanse and polish Hot Cloth cleanser. The awards that this product has won speaks for its results. This product has won one hundred and twenty-five to date and is still winning more! It has been described as the foundations to fabulous skin and the preparation for the next step in your beauty regime. Beauty experts from around the world love this product and I personally can see why. So, what is in this miracle product I hear you asking me? This product consists of cocoa butter to soften, smooth and moisturise, rosemary, chamomile and eucalyptus to tone, sooth and purify. This product is suitable for all skin types. The cleanse and polish is a cream based formula which deeply cleanses to instantly remove daily grime, pollutants and make-up. This product is also great for removing fake tan. It is like a cloth eraser- it’s like the ultimate cloth defeating stubborn dirt super hero! After use your skin feels very comfortable, balanced and exceptionally clean. Your skin doesn’t feel that horrible tight and dry way that you get from other harsher face washes nor did mine have any redness. I was really impressed with the pure-cotton cloth that is used to exfoliate your skin. This technique lifts away dead skin cells to reveal smoother, clearer and bright-looking skin. It’s very easy to use you massage the cleanser onto your face and neck- no water is required at this stage, you then rinse the cloth under hand-hot water, rinse then wipe off the cream. It is that simple. The next step involves instant boost skin tonic.

This tonic is non-drying and revitalises, soothes and brightens the skin. This product is so gentle and is also alcohol free. It also adds a layer of moisture to the skin. All that is required are two cotton wool pads and then sweep over the face and neck. If using cotton wool isn’t for you then there is the spritz spray version which you can spray directly onto the face. With the spritz spray you are also able to use this whenever you need it. It can even be used to cool you down. This is the option that I use. Again, this product is suitable for all skin types. I like how light and non-greasy this product is. It also smells so good.

The last step is the moisturiser which has two choices: Skin repair or Super skin. For those of us who need more moisture or have aging skin then it is recommended to use superskin. I use skin repair as my skin can get oily therefore I don’t want heavy products that will clog my pores and cause more oil production. It is here to highlight that this cream comes in different skin type formulas E.G Normal /combination. Therefore, with this moisturiser it is full of naturally active avocado and borage plant oils which work alongside your skins essential oils and it also contains vitamin E. Which is really helpful in replacing moisture. From using this moisturiser, I don’t feel that my skin is every dry or too greasy. It sinks into my skin brilliantly and not just sitting on the surface. By following these three daily essentials day and night you and your skin will feel great.

I have only touched the tip of the iceberg with all that Liz Earle has to offer but please do have a look for yourselves. There are so many helpful products that you will be spoilt for choice.

I have found more confidence in my skin and it’s all down to my new skincare regime. It has taken me years to find products that work for my skin and I am glad that I have.

No make up on at all

If you have any questions or need advice regarding the range, please do not hesitate to get in contact with myself. I can easily pass you on to the Liz Earle team.

I would like to thank  Liz Earle for kindly sending out products and allowing me to promote this unique and effective brand.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have enjoyed learning about this brand. I would appreciate any feedback and comments.

Magnificent Mococo

Hello,

I would like to welcome you to Nic pick’n’mix. On the blog today I will be featuring Mococo.

Mococo was founded by Mr and Mrs Hooson way back in 2006 and has been growing ever since. Mococo features some of the very best jewellery and designers from around the world. Some of these brands include but not limited to Pandora, Thomas Sabo, Swarovski, Shaun Leane, Clogau and Chlobo. Mococo has most recently been highlighted as a “Retail Star” in the Professional Jeweller HOT 100. It is clear to see that they are taking the jewellery scene in the United Kingdom by storm.

Mococo’s ethos was to put the personal service back into jewellery purchasing. For every customers who sets foot in a Mococo store they are offered unrivalled customer service, from help with choosing the perfect item, right the way through to offering assistance and advice on looks, styles, fits and gift solutions. Another fantastic thing that this jewellery business has is the Mococo champagne bar which is a feature in several of the spectacular Mococo stores. Here the customers can have a cup of coffee or a glass of champagne while you shop the beautiful collections they have to offer.

This company caught my eye straight away for varying reasons but mainly because they were different from the other jewellery stores out there. I love the idea of having a glass of champagne whilst browsing so many beautiful jewellery brands. I like how easy the website is to use and the colour choices. There are so many brands for you to look at that you are almost spoilt for choice. Mococo’s ethos really does exist, the customer experience I received online via email communication was great. Clear and precise information and more than happy to answer any concerns or questions that you may have. You can sense how dedicated they are to making you feel valued.

From Mococo I received the most beautiful Swarovski bracelet that I have ever seen. The delivery was very quick and I was kept up to date with delivery information. I was very lucky to have been sent the Swarovski silver subtle bracelet, £99.00.  It is so delicate and just what I would have selected for myself. Mococo must really take an interest in their customers likes and dislikes as they got it spot on with myself. I do like silver jewellery and this bracelet was in silver. The Swarovski crystals catch the light and glisten away on your wrist.

Swarovski Silver Subtle Bracelet, £99.00

The most impressive fastening I have ever seen was on this bracelet- it’s like a drawstring idea which for people with small wrists is a very clever idea. The bracelet sat perfectly on my wrist and didn’t slip at all which was just a relief. For years I have been struggling with bracelets always slipping off which doesn’t do for nights out. You are always trying to keep an eye on the bracelet in case you lose it. But with this new and very impressive fastening you will never have to worry about losing a bracelet every again. This bracelet will go with any outfit and will be a complimentary piece for any Christmas party that you have coming up.

This loyalty programme entitles you to exclusive discounts on your favourite brands, monthly prize draws, free shipping within the UK on any online orders, exclusive pre-sale notice, early preview of latest collections and in store events for loyalty customers only. I think that is certainly work being a member of! All it takes to join is to provide them with your email address and to have purchased two items of your choice within a 12-month period. London Fashion Week: N&S Gaia by Sidharth

Hello and welcome to my blog.

I can’t believe how long ago London Fashion Week was! I was so excited and very lucky to be given the opportunity to attend the fabulous event as a guest blogger for Sidharth.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Sidharth(Designer behind N&S GAIA)

This designer has some unique and very exciting designs and I feel this is what we have been missing over the years in the fashion industry.

N&S Gaia stands for Nature & Sustainability with revered guidance of Mother Nature, inceptor and creator-GAIA, the primal Greek Goddess. The brand started its journey in 2013 from North East India. They are a contemporary Womenswear label that are based in New Delhi. N&S Gaia have given the technique called Dakmanda which is a hand weaving embroidery technique of Garo Tribe in the North East of India a re-birth.

The brand has used upcycling and sustainable fabrics in their designs. They take the idea that Less is more and try to keep an environmental factor in their designs.

When I attended the fashion show I was greeted with so many beautiful colours on the catwalk. Sidharth’s design are very well thought out and had an element of futuristic about them. The amount of detail on some of the clothing was seriously very well put together. The clothing was not over the top yet it still had eye catching appeal. The makeup complimented the clothing and the hair was kept up in high buns.

I was also very fortunate enough to be able to go backstage and see the clothing up close. It was such an amazing experience to see how much work goes into a catwalk show and also to be given the opportunity to meet with Sidharth, the designer of the brand.

I would like to wish Sidharth and N&S Gaia all the best for the future and I hope to be able to attend another show of theirs in the future. I really did feel that their designs were very fresh and stood out from anything I have seen to date. I definitely would wear something from their collection.  Thank you to Yannis for inviting me and for taking great care of me whilst at the show. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you and I hope to see you all soon.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post and I hope you enjoyed reading it. Please do keep following me and I would love to hear from you.

Chi-Chi London

Hello and welcome to today’s blog post which is featuring the beautiful and very elegant dresses from the one and only Chi-Chi London.

I have been admiring Chi-Chi London dresses for a while and I plucked up the courage to apply to their casting call thanks to The Blogger Programme.  I was over the moon when they agreed to work with me.

If you haven’t heard of Chi-Chi London, then here is a little bit about the company. This young and fast fashion brand really does cater for everyone. They bring the looks from the catwalk straight to the high street so people like you and I can really enjoy being up-to-date with the latest styles. The company really do pride themselves with having unique, vibrant and expressive styles which sets them aside from other UK retailers. What really drew me to this company was the fact that their dresses are limited edition pieces which are designed and made in house, which means that when you purchase and wear a Chi-Chi London dress it is exclusive to you! That really makes you feel special. Chi-Chi London have a wide range of stunning dresses to cater for every occasion. The dresses range from cocktail, prom, evening and maxi dresses. Another reason why I adore Chi-Chi London is the fact that they really do cater for everyone- in fact they cater for every shape. From petite to curvy they have every avenue covered. Which is perfect if you find it really difficult to source outfits due to varying reasons.

It is every girl’s dream to dress up, and when I was lucky enough to choose which dress I would like to review the decision really was difficult. I wanted to choose something that is very different from what I usually go for. And I knew that there was going to be that perfect dress from Chi-Chi London due to the selection of styles, colours and ranges being offered to me. The website is really easy to move around and very eye-catching. The images of the dresses really do help you to see what the dresses look like and the size charts are great to follow. The customer service from Chi-Chi London is second to none, they keep you up-to-date with everything and couldn’t be more helpful.

When my chosen dress arrived it was as described from the website. In fact, it looked even more perfect in the flesh. The dress I chose was the Chi-Chi London Justice dress. I found that the print on the dress wasn’t too over the top and as I said earlier I wanted something completely different to my usual choices. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and experiment more, and this is what I had achieved. I don’t wear many pastel colours and this dress was a light pink colour. It has a lovely shape to it without being too fitted or too floaty. The dress has a beautiful drop at the back which looks really good without showing too much skin. It is a very elegant piece that isn’t too short in length or is too long. It would look great at a wedding or even for a date.

To show the dress in its true light, I decided to take it to a photoshoot and see how good it would be to photograph. And the dress didn’t disappoint at all! In fact, you might even agree that it stole the show and made the pictures. The dress was very comfortable to wear, and fitted me beautifully. I am very petite and often find that dresses look too big on my small frame or the straps fall down. It is with great delight that this dress did neither of these things which made me fall in love with it even more.

For the photoshoot we decided that this dress deserved a Royal background and what better backdrop than a castle itself – The very picturesque Broughty Ferry Castle.

We then decided that this dress needed to grace it’s own catwalk and headed straight for the TayBridge.

I would like to thank everyone at Chi-Chi London for giving me this opportunity to review a dress that truly is eye-catching and very well made.  A big thank you goes to Douglas Kerr photography for taking the images and to Rachel Wilson for her fantastic make up skills. Everything looked perfect.

If you have any questions regarding any of the companies mentioned in this blog post, please do get in touch with myself. If you would like to collaborate, please do contact me as I am more than happy to work with businesses. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.
